Discrete Mathematics with Graph Theory

By Dr. Preeti Chauhan, Edited by Lidia Danik

Discrete Mathematics with Graph Theory is a comprehensive guide that introduces readers to the fundamental concepts of discrete mathematics, with a strong emphasis on graph theory and its applications. Designed for students of computer science, mathematics, and engineering, the book presents theoretical foundations alongside practical examples that reflect real-world problem-solving. Topics such as logic, set theory, combinatorics, relations, functions, recurrence relations, and algebraic structures are thoroughly covered, providing a solid base for advanced studies in algorithm design, data structures, and network theory. A standout feature of the book is its integrated approach to graph theory-a powerful tool used to model relationships and structures in computing, biology, social networks, and more. The book introduces core graph concepts like trees, paths, circuits, connectivity, and graph coloring, while also exploring advanced topics like planar graphs and Eulerian/Hamiltonian circuits. Exercises and examples throughout the text reinforce understanding and challenge readers to apply concepts critically. With clear explanations, logical structure, and a focus on application, Discrete Mathematics with Graph Theory serves as both an academic textbook and a practical reference. It equips learners with analytical skills necessary for problem-solving in diverse scientific and technological domains. Contents: 1. Discrete Mathematics, 2. Fundamental Concepts of Set Theory, 3. Graph Theory, 4. Domain and Range Function, 5. Logic in Discrete Mathematics, 6. Network Extensions to Graph Theory, 7. Relation Model and Binary Relation, 8. Tree Structures in Graph Theory, 9. Structural Combinatorics in Graph Theory.
