Environmental Remediation Through Carbon Based Nanocomposites

By Dr. Hemant Panwar, Dr. Nidhi Chaudhry, Dr. Manisha Singhal, Edited by A. Gayakwar

Environmental remediation is a critical challenge in today's world due to increasing pollution levels in soil, water, and air. Carbon-based nanocomposites have emerged as a powerful and promising solution for addressing these issues. These materials, which include carbon nanotubes, graphene, and activated carbon combined with other nanomaterials, exhibit exceptional properties such as high surface area, strong adsorption capacity, and remarkable chemical stability. Their unique structure allows them to effectively remove heavy metals, organic pollutants, dyes, and even hazardous gases from contaminated environments. Carbon-based nanocomposites function by adsorbing pollutants onto their surface or catalyzing the breakdown of harmful substances into harmless byproducts. Their efficiency is further enhanced when integrated with metals, metal oxides, or polymers, creating hybrid systems tailored for specific types of pollution. These materials are widely used in water purification, soil cleaning, and air filtration technologies. Moreover, they offer the advantages of reusability, energy efficiency, and minimal secondary pollution, making them highly sustainable for long-term environmental management. As research continues, carbon-based nanocomposites are expected to play an even greater role in developing green technologies and eco-friendly practices for a cleaner, healthier planet. Their versatility and effectiveness highlight the future potential of nanotechnology in environmental science. Environmental Remediation Through Carbon-Based Nano Composites explores innovative nanotechnology solutions for removing pollutants from soil, water, and air. Contents: 1.
